Bloomberg Law Quotes Marcella Burke on the Rollback of White House Permitting Rules

Marcella Burke was quoted in Bloomberg Law’s coverage of the Council on Environmental Quality’s rollback of National Environmental Policy Act regulations, a move intended to ease permitting for large-scale projects such as mines, factories, and pipelines.

The article, “End of White House Permitting Rules Leaves Developers Lukewarm,” examined the Trump Administration’s decision to rescind CEQ’s NEPA regulations. The rollback was designed to simplify environmental permitting and, in theory, make it easier for developers to secure approvals for major projects ranging from mines and pipelines to factories and energy infrastructure.

Industry reaction, however, was mixed. Marcella Burke, founding partner of Burke Law Group and former Deputy Solicitor for Energy and Natural Resources at the U.S. Department of the Interior, was quoted in the article, offering her perspective on how the regulatory change might affect developers navigating the NEPA process.
